Finally some non-Brexit news from Brussels: Whilst Theresa May’s negotiations with the Irish DUP party following her loss of the absolute majority, are watched with a good amount of „Schadenfreude“, the European Commission is showing its teeth again – this time it’s Google taking a hit, with a record-breaking 2.42 Billion Euro fine for what DG Comp identifies as dominant position of Google Shopping. Competition commissioner Vestager means business: corporate tax avoidance is another issue high on her agenda – Apple, Starbucks, McDonalds and Fiat have been or still are prominent targets. No easy times for big business: the European Parliament’s inquiry committee on the Panama Papers is in full swing with almost monthly public hearings on money laundering, tax avoidance and evasion. Difficult times in politics often means good times for lobbyists – no matter which side you take: find the latest jobs and as usual more on politjobs.eu!
