Job Alert – Never give up: Lessons from Iceland and the Euro

Who would have thought that a country with little more than 300 000 inhabitants makes it to the Euro’s quarter finals, and kicks out England on the way – thereby healing some post-BREXIT decision grudges…. We can learn at least two lessons for job-hunting from the Icelanders:

  1. Have a plan – and practice
Iceland’s football team did not win by accident. Ever since the turn of the century, Iceland has put a lot of resources into providing top-notch training facilities, youth coaching, and making the coaching profession a financially very attractive one. The first kids who benefitted are the ones who now showed us their great spirit and football.
  1. Never give up
Even with 4 goals against them, the Icelanders scored another two before having to give in to the French team. And even though they did not win, they are going home with an incredible boost in self-esteem. Plus, everyone loves them.

Translated into job-hunting: make sure you develop a career plan – a certain level you want to achieve, a sector you want to excel in, a corporate or a consultant or other career. Things may change over time, but a plan will influence your career choices, will help you develop a skills set that you need to advance – and will help you afterwards to explain them in interviews.

Never give up – everyone encounters ups and downs: in football just as much as in your private or professional life. Losers are only considered losers when they give up fighting – this also holds true in interviews and professional failures. It’s about how much you believe in yourself and how convincingly you bring this belief across.

In this spirit, find attached some jobs and as usual more on politjobs.eu.
